Many interior trends come and go, however the global trend is truly one of my favourites as it can be easily adapted to any home and as rustic or refined as you like to create a casual and care-free atmosphere.
With a nod relaxed living, over the past few months now we have seen a shift towards interiors that transport us to another world with the use of statement patterns and natural materials - think tribal and Aztec fabrics, timeless Kilim rugs, vintage Chinese prints and organic, hand-woven weaves.
The colour pallet that accompanies this trend is just as lust worthy as we move from lighter hues to rich and warm earthy tones (such a terracotta and ochre) and deep, mysterious greens. Likewise, timber is richer in colour and texture, stripped back completely or white washed for a weathered appearance. To ensure the trend is kept modern, this raw, down-to-earth colour pallet looks best when incorporated with white walls, tan leathers and neutral tones throughout.
With a hint of nostalgia, mimic an exotic getaway with pieces that transport you to the Palm Springs desert or peaceful beaches of Polynesia. Integrating elements of this trend in the home is uncomplicated and as most are eye catching decorating pieces or striking colours in themselves, only a light touch is required. Indoor greenery also plays it part in this trend (as if I need any excuse) and the addition of cacti or a lush palm will be just perfect!
