Since opening its doors here in Australia, back in 1975, Ikea has continued to be at the forefront offering affordable and stylish furniture and homewares. As Ikea offers such an extensive range, it is hard to narrow down the list of their best buys, however below you will find a few of my current favourites:
SINNERLIG Pendant - this handmade bamboo lamp shade would make a fantastic feature in any living or dining area. The voluminous shape makes quite a statement and the use of rattan is right on trend. Not to mention the pendant is only $69.00, you can’t beat that.
RÅSKOG Trolley - this compact trolley (available in 4 colours) is so versatile and can be used and styled in various ways. Use for additional storage in your walk in pantry, in the study to keep all bits and pieces together or as a summer BBQ and drink cart.
BROMMÖ Chair - a remake on the classic deck chair, kick back and relax with this updated version which uses rope for support. The chair can be folded away easily and is sure to add some style to your outdoor patio - perfect for summer.
PS Cabinet - this blue locker like cabinet could again be used anywhere in the home, depending what is required. The cabinet would make a perfect TV unit or hall unit and the blue will pop against neutral surrounds. The cabinet is made from powder coated steel, therefore is simple to keep clean and lockable to keep the little ones out.
GLADOM Table - a small tray table that comes in 3 fantastic colours (white, dark green and light yellow) and is only $24.99 - unbelievable! This round table would be perfect next to an occasional chair, or grouped together in a lounge room to create more impact.
STOCKHOLM Mirror - it’s hard to find a great mirror, but this one really ticks all the boxes for me as it’s affordable, a great size (80cm in diameter) and round to counteract the sharp edges of surrounding furniture. I have this mirror in my hallway above my hall table; however they would make excellent bathroom mirrors also.
RADVIKEN Armchair - with a sleek yet functional form, this lightweight rattan armchair is a great addition to fill a vacant corner in the lounge room or as an occasional chair in the bedroom.
FROSTA Stool - I simply couldn’t leave off the list this uncomplicated plywood stool. A few of these stackable stools are extremely useful to have tucked away for any occasion where additional seating may be required or could also be used as a small table around the home. There stools are effortlessly customised with a wood stain, paint or even fabric.
